NORTH FORELAND OPEN FOR PLAY AS THOUSANDS OF GOLF FANS HEAD TO EAST KENT

North Foreland Golf Club is ready to play its part in an exciting summer of sport after as many as 32,000 golf fans were given the green light to attend each day of next month’s Open Championship at Royal St. George’s.

Thousands of visitors are set to head to Kent in July for the 149th Open Championship, following an announcement from the R&A which confirmed that the tournament would be used as a test to determine the safety of large outdoor sports events.

The decision has been celebrated by North Foreland, which is offering attendees the opportunity to combine watching with a round at the highly-regarded English seaside course.

Situated just 13 miles along the coast from Royal St. George’s, the 36-hole venue is considered one of the best member clubs in Kent and is giving visitors the chance to reserve tee times online between Monday, July 12, and Monday, July 19 – with a range of special fourball packages available.

Golfers can play the dramatic downland course, which runs along the clifftops and offers sea views from each tee, from just £125 throughout the week or as a fourball package from £450 which includes breakfast or lunch, complimentary range balls and a souvenir welcome pack for each player.

There are also twilight tee times available across the week which start at just £75, offering a fantastic opportunity to play North Foreland’s stunning course in the evening after a day at Royal St George’s or watching the coverage at home.

As expected, the tee sheet is filling up incredibly fast for the week and there is limited availability left, so golfers are encouraged to book now to avoid disappointment.

“The Open Championship is one of the most exciting events in all of golf” said Chris Dowrick, North Foreland’s general manager. “After the disappointment of the event being cancelled last year, I think many people were just happy to see it back on the calendar, but now it’s been made even better with more than 30,000 fans each day watching the best golfers in the world battle it out for the Claret Jug.

“The atmosphere will be electric and I have no doubt that it will put everyone in the mood to play themselves, which is why we’re so excited to showcase our wonderful course to a totally new audience of golfers, some of which will never have had the chance to experience a seaside course like ours.”

Located on the picturesque Kent coast in the holiday town of Dickensian Broadstairs, North Foreland Golf Club boasts two exceptional year-round golf courses – the Main Course and the Northcliffe Course – complemented by top-class clubhouse facilities to match, with the delightful Lighthouse Brasserie and Bar offering panoramic views of the sea and coastline.

Renowned for its fast-running fairways and greens, along with coastal views that are amongst the best in England, the 6,436-yard, par-71 Main Course is a fantastic test for all golfers – with the open front nine holes being contrasted nicely with the tighter back nine and a mixture of strategically-placed bunkers and broad fairways.

The Northcliffe Course provides the opportunity for players to hone their short game on holes that vary in distance from 50 to 140 yards and the club is also home to excellent practice facilities and tennis courts.
